Just 10 minutes from the medieval town of Volterra, this newly built country house combines an unrivaled natural setting with convenient access to Tuscany's cultural treasures. The coast is a mere 35-minute drive away, while art cities like Siena, Florence, Lucca, and Pisa are all easily accessible for day trips.

 

The villa itself is part of an intimate residential complex, where traditional Tuscan architecture meets contemporary comfort. The thoughtfully designed interior features an open-plan living space where large arched French doors create a seamless connection with the private garden, flooding the room with natural light and those magnificent views. 

 

The living area flows naturally into a fully equipped kitchen, featuring all modern amenities including a fridge-freezer, gas hob, electric oven, and dishwasher. The space is completed by an elegant dining area that seats six, perfect for enjoying meals prepared with local ingredients. Air conditioning throughout ensures comfort even during the warmest Tuscan summer days.

 

Accommodation includes two generously sized double bedrooms, each furnished with king-size beds that promise restful nights. The bedrooms are complemented by two family bathrooms with modern shower facilities, while an additional guest bathroom in the living area adds extra convenience.

 

Modern amenities include high-speed STARLINK Wi-Fi internet, ensuring you stay connected while away from home. Entertainment options include an iPod player and TV, while practical features such as a washing machine make longer stays comfortable. The outdoor space is equipped with a BBQ, dining furniture, and sun loungers - perfect for making the most of the Tuscan climate and those spectacular views.

 

Within the complex, residents share a large swimming pool (16 x 8 meters) open from June through September, with extended availability during favorable weather. While towels and linens for the house are provided, guests should bring their own pool towels.

 

The nearby medieval town of Volterra offers all necessary amenities, including fine restaurants, characteristic bars, shops, and supermarkets. For golf enthusiasts, the nearest course is just 25 minutes away by car. While the villa is perfect for families, couples, or groups of friends, please note that the property is not wheelchair accessible.

Start your journey in this historic gem just 10 minutes from Villa Martha. Begin at Piazza dei Priori, the heart of medieval Volterra, with its imposing Palazzo dei Priori. The Roman Theatre, one of the best-preserved ancient sites in Tuscany, offers a glimpse into the city's Roman past. Insider tip: park near the Roman Theatre to avoid the busy main parking structure. Don't miss the majestic Cathedral in Piazza San Giovanni, the Medici Fortress with its sweeping valley views, the extensive Etruscan collection at the Guarnacci Museum, and the Alabaster Museum where you can discover Volterra's centuries-old craft tradition.

 

Local Food & Wine

The area around Volterra offers exceptional culinary experiences. Visit local farms for cheese tasting, especially the renowned Pecorino di Volterra. The hills produce excellent wines - ask us about arranging tastings at local wineries. Don't miss Volterra's traditional wild boar dishes and handmade pasta at restaurants we personally recommend.

Nature & Activities

The Berignone Nature Reserve Offers marked trails through pristine Tuscan wilderness. The dramatic Balze, distinctive geological formations around Volterra, provide unique photography opportunities, with some of the best views visible directly from Villa Martha. Local stables offer horseback riding through the countryside, and we can arrange e-bike rentals for exploring the rolling hills.

 

San Gimignano

This UNESCO World Heritage site, nicknamed the "Manhattan of the Middle Ages" for its striking medieval towers, offers an unforgettable skyline. Wander through its perfectly preserved historic center, discovering artisan workshops, sampling the world-renowned Vernaccia wine, and tasting the local saffron, a precious spice that brought wealth to the city in medieval times.

 

Coastal Treasures

Visit the charming village of Bolgheri, famous for its 5-kilometer cypress avenue immortalized by poet Giosuè Carducci and its prestigious wines. Wine enthusiasts shouldn't miss Tenuta San Guido, home of the legendary Sassicaia wine. For beach lovers, Marina di Bibbona offers the closest access to the Tuscan coast, while the more adventurous will appreciate the unspoiled beauty of the Gulf of Baratti and the ancient Etruscan settlement of Populonia, where history meets stunning Mediterranean views.
